The Worth of Souls

We had a Lord of the Rings marathon tonight. I was thinking about how epic and incredible it was, and how close the whole story is to my heart (I grew up on LOTR, the story, the movies, the animated films; everything.)
Today we live in avery different world than anything like that; our lives don't feel epic and magical. But at the same time... don't we make decisions every day that put us on the right or wrong path? Don't we fight the evil in the world that surrounds us, trying to destroy us?
Our choices may not feel as "life and death" to us, but in stories like this they are fighting for souls, and so are we; how is it really any different? How are we any less heroes, when we face incredible powers of temptation and evil on every side? How are we any less heroes, when we continue to choose the good instead of the seemingly attractive and appealing bad? When we turn to the light and away from the voices telling us to give in, we are just as powerful and regal as Aragorn, just as determined and courageous as Sam, just as heroic as a small and incredibly humble Frodo. I feel that so strongly; that our choices are just as important as the ones the heroes in the books make.
After all; the evil we face is what their evil is simply based on.

We truly underestimate our strength.
